Meridith Long, LSW
As a therapist, I am here to listen with compassion and to support your goals, and this includes identifying what those goals are. I believe that therapy is most effective when it feels like a collaborative partnership, where we work together to understand your unique experiences and create meaningful change in your life.
My therapeutic approach is primarily guided by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including Mindfulness-Based CBT, which helps clients develop practical skills to manage difficult thoughts and emotions while staying present and grounded. I also draw from Positive Psychology, focusing on your strengths and what's already working well in your life. This strengths-based approach allows us to build on your existing resources while addressing areas where you'd like to see growth and change.
For couples therapy, I am trained in the Gottman Method (and working toward full certification), an evidence-based approach that helps partners strengthen their relationship through improved communication, conflict resolution, and deeper emotional connection. I work with couples to identify patterns that may be creating distance and help them develop tools to build lasting intimacy and understanding.
My practice welcomes individuals and couples facing a wide range of life challenges. Whether you're navigating career transitions and seeking a more fulfilling professional path, adjusting to the profound changes of new parenthood, working through relationship difficulties, managing anxiety or other mental health concerns, or dealing with any combination of life's complexities, I am here to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for exploration and healing.
